Real Estate in Southwest Florida

The Real Estate industry is the primary business in SouthwestFlorida.  Cape Coral is a bedroom community northwest of Ft. Myers and is the largest city in the area. It is relatively new, and growing. But, because of its rapid growth it is hardest hit with foreclosures and short sales. Prices have dropped about 50%. Of course that makes for a lot of good buys for other folks. Ft. Myers is an older community, but it does have new golf course communities. Unfortunately, it has no beach. The beach used is Ft. Myers Beach, a separate city on a barrier island. Estero and Bonita Springs are further south of Ft. Myers and has some beaches at Bonita Springs. The largest beach is actually a state park, to the  south of Bonita Beach Road, in Collier County, the home of Naples. Beaches are abundant and beautiful. There are boat launch ramps in various locations, the famous pier that runs 300 yards into the Gulf of Mexico, and a huge variety of house designs and price ranges. Real Estate is our largest industry, followed by tourism. Because Naples is sub-tropical, kids of all ages play outdoors year round in moderate temperatures. In fact all the schools have lighted fields for community teams to play on. There are numerous community parks with baseball fields groomed so they look like putting greens. Absolutely top-notch facilities. These include clubhouses, doggy runs, etc. We have a lot of kids here. During the building boom of 2004-6, our population of school age children rose faster than any other demographic. Of course that meant young parents came with the kids. We have a new huge water-park for kids of all ages. The nicest things about Naples is that it is clean, beautifully landscaped, and feels like a small town. Although it is 100 square miles with 300,000 people, the City of Naples is only 22,000. Greater Naples uses only about 1/8 of the total county landmass. We have most of the county infarm lands, state and national parks. Oh, and for you retirees, we have many retirement homes, or you can just get your self a cottage, a small farm, or a high rise condo. Its all here.
